“ICRC Discuss with GCMHP Ways of Building MH Capacities of Medical Staff at Reform Centers”

 

A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross has held a meeting on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 with Gaza Community Mental Health Programme to discuss a work plan that aims at developing medical personnel working in rehabilitation and reform centers.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Military Medical Services Department and the Islamic University.

Both  Mr Juan Carlos, Director of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programs, and Mrs Nidaa Al-Zaim, Director of the Medical Services Assistant Program, attended the meeting as representatives for the ICRC.  Dr Mohamed Saleh, Director General of Medical Services; Mr Mohamed Awad, Assistant General Manager, and  Alaa Al-Habil, Director of the Human Development Unit at the Military Medical Services attended the meeting as representatives for their department. Representing the Islamic University, Dr Ibrahim Al-Astal, Dean of the College of Education, attended the meeting.

The delegation was received by Dr Yasser Abu Jamei, Director General; Dr Tayseer Diab, Deputy Director General for Professional Affairs; Mr Qusai Abu Odei, Director of the Department of External Relations and Resource Development; and Ms Rawya Hamam, Director of Training and Scientific Research Department.

The attendees discussed ways of cooperation in developing medical staff working in the military medical services and developing a joint plan to provide medical  professionals with the skills of providing mental health services directly to inmates.
