A Delegation from the Protection Cluster  visits GCMHP

A delegation from the Protection Cluster of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recently visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP). The meeting aimed at highlighting the professional observations and challenges that face the projects’ staff in the field. The meeting took place at Gaza Community Center hall.

The delegation included Mr. Davide Tondo and Mr. Said Al Madhoun, in the presence of Mr. Hasan Zyada, Head of Gaza Community Center, Mr. Qusi Abu Ouda, Head of Projects and Fundraising Unit at GCMHP, Ms. Basma Zaqout, a Project Coordinator and a number of psychologists and professionals working in the humanitarian response plan projects, implemented by GCMHP and funded by OCHA.

At the beginning of the meeting, GCMHP’s staff welcomed the delegation, presenting the most important interventions provided through the emergency response projects. The projects’ achievements  were also presented along with the  initial observations and results of the implemented activities.

On their turn, the delegation raised some questions for the professionals regarding the challenges they encounter in the field, and the professionals responded to all their inquiries

The delegation also had a tour inside Gaza Community Center to view the Center’s sections and services of the therapeutic interventions methods and techniques that GCMHP provides to the different target groups in the Palestinian community.

It is worth mentioning that the humanitarian response plan projects aim at promoting the protection mechanisms during the current crisis at the border areas in the Gaza Strip through providing psycho-social support and specialized mental health services for the affected population.
