“GCMHP Holds a Technical Meeting with the Donor’s Consortium”

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme has recently held a meeting in which the following participated: representatives from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), The General Consulate of Sweden in Jerusalem, the Norwegian Representative Office for the PA, and Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, General Director of GCMHP and a number of heads of departments and units of the programme.

 

Dr. Abu Jamei started the meeting by welcoming the attendees specially Mr. Sigbjorn Litland from the Norwegian Representative Office who was attending a meeting for the first time at the programme. After a round of introductions, Dr. Abu Jamei emphasised the importance of maintaining a partnership with the donors’ consortium. He thanked them for their support to finalise the strategic plan.

 

Mr. Hussam Manna’, Head of projects at the SDC in Gaza and the coordinator for the donors’ consortium, thanked GCMHP for its efforts to achieve objectives and activities planned for 2018 and for their responsiveness to the donor requirements especially regarding the strategic plan 2019-2021 and the reports of 2018.

 

In addition, Dr. Abu Jamei provided an update about the mental health situation in Gaza, a year after the start of the Great March of Return. And he presented the latest GCMHP intervention to respond to this crisis.

The meeting agenda addressed many topics including the administrative and financial annual reports for 2018,  the Crisis Intervention Project 2018-2019, the internal audit, updates on GCMHP’s new building, as well as the joint agreements with the donors consortium.

 

As part of this meeting, Dr. Mohammed Abu Shahla, Chairman of the Board of Directors, signed a partnership agreement with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Finally, Dr. Abu Jamei thanked all of the donors for their collaboration and support for GCMHP to alleviate the suffering of the people in the Gaza Strip
