GCMHP has staged a closing ceremony to mark the end of ‘Sports for Smiles’ project which is funded by the German Development Agency (GIZ).

Around one thousand participants, children and parents, took part in the ceremony, which was also attended by representatives from the GIZ and others from community-based organizations in the Gaza Strip.

The event took place in Gaza Sports Club in Sudania area, northern Gaza City.

The project targeted 500 children (240 boys & 260 girls in the 12-17 age group), 56 of whom are with disabilities.

The ceremony included different parts such as Dabke dance, sports activities and sketches. Success stories were also presented during the ceremony.

At the end of event plaques were handed out to the participating clubs, while all the children were awarded replica golden medals.
