“Within the project “Providing mental and community health services to those affected by violence in the context of demonstrations on the Gaza Strip fence”.”

The Training and Scientific Research Department at the Gaza Community Mental Health Program opened the first of five training courses entitled “Mental Health Gap Bridging Intervention Guide – Second Edition”, with the participation of 25 participants from medical and mental service providers among nursing and medical cadres working in institutions offering Health services, especially at trauma stabilization points for the injured of the march of return and also on the second lines of interventions in hospitals and clinics. Each course includes 30 accredited training hours in five training days and the courses will continue until February 2020.
The course was opened by Rawia Hamam Director of Training and Scientific Research Department and Qusai Abu Odah, Head of Projects Unit, who welcomed the participants in the training and praised their commitment and attendance.
The objectives of the course were clarified, including the mechanisms of using the Gap-Intervention Bridging Guide – second edition, gaining the ability to apply the axes of the guide on mental, neurological disorders and addiction, and finally acquiring the skills of stress management and self-care. The course will address the following topics:
1. Introduction to Mental Health Gap Bridging Intervention Guide – Second Edition.
2. Depression and self-harm / suicide.
3. Behavioral and psychological disorders of children and adolescents.
4. Conditions associated with stress.
5. Pressure management and self-care.
Representatives of the Gaza Community Mental Health Program also wished the participants to apply what will be learned through training and benefit from it at work.
