“A delegation from the AM Qattan Foundation – Child Centre visits the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme”

A delegation from the AM Qattan Foundation represented by Mr. Mamdouh Abu Kamil, Director of Extended Service, Ms. Lana Matar, Public Relations Coordinator, Mr. Salman Al Nawati, Coordinator of Fine Arts, Ms. Heba Al-Agha, Assistant Library Coordinator, and a group of children from the Child Center at Al-Qattan Educational Foundation visited the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme to identify the Programmme facilities and its mechanism for providing community mental health services.

In the introductory tour, Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, General Director of the Programme; Sami Owaida, Director of the Gaza Community Center in the program, received the delegation and introduced children to the various facilities of the Gaza Community Center, the most important of which are the therapy rooms for adults, the play therapy room for children, the observation room and the free telephone counseling room.

The children also met with Ms. Rawia Hamam, Director of Training and Scientific Research Department, who introduced them to the work of the Department and its facilities through the research library and training halls. She explained the objectives of the unit, its work and its contributions in building and developing the capacities of workers in the field of community mental health and human rights, as well as its contributions to the development of therapeutic interventions through scientific research.

After the tour, Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, General Director of the Programme, received the children in one of the training rooms, and gave them a historical overview of the establishment of the Programme and the community humanitarian vision, which formed the nucleus of the launch of the Programme by the late Dr. Iyad El Sarraj.

In conclusion, the children presented a series of wonderful paintings to the Programme which they painted in their own activities at the Child Center as an initiative to promote the values of community voluntary work.
